Modern styling, premium components, and the latest technology combine to ensure the 701 Supermoto is a machine like no other. Designed to bring the pure spirit of Supermoto riding to the streets, the performance of the most powerful, single-cylinder model can be harnessed and refined using an extensive list of electronic rider aids. Complete with a perfectly balanced chassis, riders can slide from corner to corner with ease as they command the road.
Redesigned crankcases reduce drag, which plays a vital role in enabling the single-cylinder engine to create more torque and peak power than the previous generation. The proven LC4 engine is compliant with the latest emissions standards and retains its linear and controllable power delivery. An added benefit of the latest engine are the service intervals, with oil changes now required only at 15,000 km.
Cylinder head
The compact, Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC), 4-valve cylinder head features 42 mm intake valves and 34 mm exhaust valves. These are actuated by a reliable rocker arm system that delivers precise valve timing at high engine speeds. A dual-spark plug layout, with individually controlled ignition timing, ensures optimal fuel consumption.
Exhaust
The latest-generation 701 Enduro is equipped with an improved exhaust system. Two lambda sensors, together with the catalytic converter - which has been relocated into the header pipe - control the emissions and ensure the machine is emissions compliant. This updated design allows riders to replace the silencer with one from the Technical Accessories range quickly and easily for enhanced performance.
Gearbox
The 6-speed gearbox is equipped with an optional Quickshifter+ that allows all gear changes to be made without using the clutch. The system uses two sensors, one of which is on the shift arm. When it detects movement on the gear lever, power is reduced for a fraction of a second. The second sensor is for gear selection, and once the next gear is engaged, full power returns. The Quickshifter+ delivers smoother acceleration, improved traction, and works even under heavy load.
The lightweight chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame is updated to be slightly stiffer, without compromising its renowned handling characteristics. Detailed feedback from the terrain is transferred to the rider thanks to the precisely calculated torsional rigidity and longitudinal flex.
Subframe
The self-supporting rear subframe with integrated 3.4 gal (13 liter) fuel tank is perfectly positioned for the best possible weight distribution. Produced in a thermoplastic rotational moulding process, the single-piece construction weighs only 11.4 lbs (5.2 kg) and is made of high-strength polyamide.
WP fork
The WP APEX front forks offer 224 mm of wheel travel and are specifically engineered for riding supermoto. Featuring an open cartridge design with a spring in each leg, compression and rebound settings can be fine-tuned with 30 clicks each using the clearly marked dials located on top of each fork leg.
WP monoshock
The WP APEX rear shock offers adjustable compression and rebound settings for a customised set-up. Connected to a linkage system for a high level of feedback from the asphalt, and offering 240 mm of rear wheel travel, the shock provides comfort and stability along every straight and through every corner.
Airbox
The redesigned airbox features a intake snorkel for improved air flow into the engine. The updated version also reduces the number of parts used to construct the airbox while retaining the same, failproof air filter from the previous generation.
Fuel pump
The self-supporting rear subframe with integrated 3.4 gal (13 liter) fuel tank is perfectly positioned for the best possible weight distribution. Produced in a thermoplastic rotational moulding process, the single-piece construction weighs only 11.4 lbs (5.2 kg) and is made of high-strength polyamide.
Black anodized Giant tubeless spoked wheels are lightweight and strong. The 17" wheels are shod with Continental ContiAttack Supermoto 120/70 and 160/60 tires front and rear respectively for extraordinarily light handling and exceptional control at all lean angles.
Brakes
The latest ABS technology from Bosch offers four settings - road, sport, supermoto and supermoto+. In combination with a four-piston, floating Brembo caliper and 320 mm disc on the front, and a single-piston Brembo caliper and 240 mm disc on the rear, confidence-inspiring braking performance is assured.
Slipper clutch
Updated graphics are applied to the smoother, and sleeker bodywork, which has been ergonomically designed to connect the rider to the motorcycle and ensure unrestricted movement. The riding experience is further enhanced by the extended seat, which reaches over the radiator shrouds for improved grip and control through tighter corners. At the front, a headlight unit houses LED bulbs to illuminate the way in all low-light situations.
Using the handlebar-mounted switch cube, riders can take advantage of multiple electronic rider aids to maximise their riding experience. A choice of three ride modes - Street, Sport, and optional Track - can be easily selected based on rider preference or conditions. Track mode is designed for circuits and twisting roads, and incorporates Launch Control, Anti-Wheelie, Motor Slip Regulation, and a Slip Adjuster. To underline the modern build specification of the 701 Supermoto, additional set-up options include Cornering MTC and a choice of four ABS modes, allowing riders to activate the setting that best suits their riding style.
CNC-machined triple clamps
When paired with the Ride Husqvarna app, the rider's smartphone enables enhanced connectivity. Calls can be made or answered, music can be played, and Turn-by-Turn+ navigation ensures no missed turns.
Ride Modes
With a handlebar switch, the power characteristic of the engine can easily be adjusted on the fly through two unique ride modes. Mode 1 offers a sporty throttle response and cornering sensitve traction control, keeping wheel slip and wheelies to a minimum for optimal street riding performance. Mode 2 provides a more aggressive throttle response with reduced traction control, to allow drifts and full control of the slide, aimed at track or unconditional street usage. Optional Supermoto ABS mode is also available. In the Supermoto mode, ABS only functions on the front wheel and the rider then has control to lock up the rear wheel if needed for full Supermoto performance.
New Configurator
With Supermoto+ ABS engaged, riders can lock up the rear wheel to help initiate a slide through tighter corners. The system works by sensing the lean angle of the motorcycle, momentarily disengaging the ABS when the 701 Supermoto is leant over into sharp turns. The ABS functionality remains active on the front wheel for full control. Sport ABS allows riders to be more aggressive on the brakes before ABS intervenes. While ABS functionality remains active on both the front and rear wheels, ABS intervenes a little later, allowing rides to brake harder, with rear-wheel lift-up intervention reduced to allow for harder, more precise braking maneuvers.
